Demeter's Dark Ride - an Attraction is one of two productions in the BATS Theatre 2005 STAB Season of new work. The season opens on 21 October and closes on 5 November, with several rides a night!

Narrative Conceit
Ghostly prestidigitator Madame Honora D’Ott and her unkempt troupe of itinerant illusionists have arrived in town at the invitation of the Thaumaturgical Society, to present the highly theatricalised ritual that is “Demeter’s Dark Ride – An Attraction”. Riders will experience a phantasmagoria of spectral wonders as they traverse the ancient pathway of the Eleusian initiates. Nine wondrous attractions mark the significant stopping places of Demeter’s harrowing journey. The final attraction of the ride is a magical resurrection of what has been lost.
Madame D’Ott is driven by twin fears: the loss of her restless imagination and a morbid fear of death.
